When I graduated from Uni, in 2016; most of my mates had 2020 in mind for the year marriage will happen for them, mostly because the year 2020 has this nice rings in and well, I see many of them getting married this year! And I have a gut feeling that this year will be the best year of our lives! So if you are a 2020 bride/groom; grab a seat and let’s talk. There are some wedding planning mistakes you can’t afford to make. Here they are: 1. Making Plans without a budget: Do not make plans without drawing up a budget. Yea, I know you have loads of screenshots on your phone and you have your day mapped out in your mind already — that’s real fun. But take a break from that, sit down with your spouse and decide how much you are willing to spend on your wedding. The 3 initial hurdles are budget, guest list and venue; they should be tackled in that order. Your budget defines your options and drives your decision. Do not do anything without having figure in mind. 2. Planning on money promised to you: Planning on money promised to you is a lot like going to a boutique to shop because an uncle promised you something, you most likely would shop at the boutique, get to the counter and have to return your items because your card was declined as the promised funds isn’t in your account yet. Several hours of shopping wasted and your energy drained! Darling, do not do this to yourself. Plan only on the tangibles. Plan on money you can see.
