Naira Mint brought her to him!

We had the beautiful privilege of planning Adeola & Olawale’s wedding and their lovestory is one that would make you drool. Enjoy their story as shared by the lovers: Adeola I had just left a toxic relationship and wasn’t ready for another. Work was my full rebound mode​ and was usually hectic for me around that period, but as the career-focused, energetic girl that I am, plus looking for an escape from my hurt, I was always ready to take on more. A trait that most of my colleagues latched on to get me to do more work – especially Tolu. One that led me to the man of my dreams. I had just finished my end of the month report. Having been seated for hours, my legs were swollen and I stood to stretch them before I continued the other tasks. I limped past Tolu’s desk and in his usual manner, always ready to throw jabs at me laughed and jokingly said ‘see person wey I wan give client to wey dey limp’ It was all jokes, we laughed it off but he still handed me the documents. The documents were incomplete. “Your client doesn’t even have an ID card”, I complained to Tolu. “Call him”, he responded, “he is a Unilorin alumnus too. You guys would most likely know each other”  I wasn’t ready for any call or familiarity. Tolu made the call, I spoke with him and explained all that was missing in his file. During the call Tolu kept dropping hints at the background – “Wale, you should know this babe. Do you remember Dianah the SUG babe wey no win that year?” Tolu the matchmaker was shooting shots on all ends. I had to follow up on Wale with some calls and I subsequently became his inside plug for all his investment transactions. The few calls I exchanged with him were strictly formal but Tolu would not stop hounding me almost every day if I had heard from him. “What’s the deal with you, me and Wale sef?” I would ask in response. In August 2019, I needed mint naira notes for my sister’s wedding, I mistakenly asked Tolu. Tolu excitedly referred me to his Wale. In his words – you are single, he is single; you need mint, he has mint – equation balanced. I had to call Wale after work that night. We talked for so long… like long lost friends. He even jokingly asked if the mints were for my wedding. I knew he was just probing and playing safe. That was the first time our call was unofficial and it did become more regular after that. He offered to drop the mint notes at my house over the weekend. He stayed true to his words and what was meant to be a drop and go for mint naira notes became a lunch hang out at Eric Kaser after hours of unofficial talks and a long stroll. A long stroll into forever apparently. Ola mi, I wasn’t searching when I found you, but I genuinely fell for your patience, the peace you exhume and found a friend in a client who is now my husband. Olawale I called my friend Tolu to sign up for a new financial package his company had just launched. He told me outrightly that he would be handing over the account to one of his colleagues I was likely to know. It turned out I didn’t know her. Afterwards, I got a call from Tolu that my documents were incomplete. That was my first time speaking with Adeola and we got to exchange numbers and emails. For years, I couldn’t put a face to her name, she was just my inside plug in her office for anything. In 2019 when her sister wanted to get married, she needed mint naira notes. She came to my office to get the mint and then we gisted for a while but I couldn’t get the mint notes at the time. I promised to bring it over to her place over the weekend. That was the day I began to have ideas in my head about the possibility of us but I wasn’t pushing for anything yet. A long time of silence followed that meet up. We occasionally spoke to each other when Tolu was with either of us and asked when last we heard from each other. Sometimes we went months without talking to each other but when we did, we vibed really well. At that point, she made it clear she wasn’t ready for a relationship and I was searching but not actively. So we were just friends. The day I knew I had found the one was a day when I closed early at work during the lockdown and stopped by to drop a drink and banana bread for Adeola. She had strict rules of not allowing guys in her house. The plan was to drop the package and leave. Somehow I climbed upstairs to her room and we kept talking for hours. I forgot I had my friend stranded in the car. This singular act was definitely out of character for me. That was the day it became glaring even to me that I was hooked on this babe. I knew I had found my safe and happy place. Smart, driven, goal-oriented and passionate about life, Adeola is my dream girl. With her I could be completely me – vulnerable yet protected. We would talk about everything including our dream spouses. Our visions were so aligned it was almost too good to be true. In 2020, I asked Adeola to be mine… she didn’t believe it at first, she always thought we were great friends and just that. I wanted my great friend to become my life partner.
