Mayowa and Gbemi's Love Story (#OMG2018)

Mayowa and Gbemi's Love Story (#OMG2018)
Mayowa arrived early at his friend’s birthday party in London hoping to meet a few folks. As fate would have it, his friend’s mum requested that he helps with picking up from the train station, her niece, Gbemisola who was attending the party as well. Though he knew not his way around as he was new in the city , Mayowa didn’t object. On getting to the train station, the radiant smile on Gbemisola’s face [to whom he introduced himself as her chauffeur] made the whole stress of locating her worth it. He was there and then, sure they won’t remain just acquaintances in this journey of life. Here is the (their love story) story of how they met as told by the bride Since I hadn’t travelled outside Manchester before, I was a bit nervous about attending my cousin’s birthday party in London. But with my aunt’s promise of picking me up at the train station, I became less anxious, so excited about visiting London and of course, meeting my cousin after a very long time. It was sure a beautiful  journey as I looked forward to seeing my aunt at the station. After a long wait at the station, a young man with a placard upon which my name is written walked towards me. Showing me my picture from his sleek mobile phone, he said: “Your Aunt is very busy at the moment, so she sent me to pick you”. Although disappointed, I smiled as I was happy to be leaving the station. Mayowa who would many months later claim that my smile was because I was enamoured by his cute look was a perfect gentleman throughout the pick-up and drop-off process, I must say. How I loved the fact that he could hold interesting conversations. At the party, I somehow ended up serving Mayowa his meal. He commented on how nice I looked and didn’t miss that golden opportunity to ask for my phone number which I did give. Towards the end of the party, he asked me out, declaring his love intentions in many interesting ways. I loved his conversational personality but I wasn’t so pleased with how the day would end as I considered his wooing me too early. But in all, the entire trip was an amazing experience. After dropping me back at the train station, Mayowa called almost every 30 minutes until I arrived home. As he would call many times a day, I began to feel disturbed as I wasn’t ready to date at the time. But after some weeks of consistent keeping in touch, the naughty me resolved to just keep Mayowa close, at least to see if truly his love for me could patiently stand the test of time. As our friendship went on for about a year, I was then sure that I wanted to not only date Mayowa but love him for a lifetime. I then invited him over to Manchester where I would as we strolled at an amusement park, confirm the relationship. I felt so much joy that he waited for me to be sure and I am so glad to be spending the rest of my life loving him. Proposal story as told by the groom Gbemisola’s YES to my marriage proposal was doubtlessly the best thing that ever happened to me. It was on November 26, 2015. I had informed her parents about my intentions few months before and have since, been waiting for a perfect time. As my birthday seemed to be the best time, I connived with my best friend, Tunde asking him to get Gbemisola to attend a surprise birthday party him and my other friends were planning for me at McDonalds’, Victoria Station (which coincidentally was where I and Gbemisola first met). The whole idea was to bring back the memory of our first meeting. Gbemisola came down to London the day before my birthday, we had a nice time hanging out with friends and folks. The next morning, I woke up to a super delicious breakfast, a gift box and a customized birthday card full of powerful prayers and wishes. While I remained pleasantly surprised, I wished she knew what I had in store for her that day. Time went by and we all got ready for the unfold of my drama. We arrived at the Victoria Station in good time. As I walked through the train station with my left hand in her right, I gently dipped my right hand into the slightly protruded pocket of my jacket that housed my proposal ring. I counted our steps and as we approached the exact spot where I first saw her and then,  I stopped. Startled, “What’s up Mayo?”, Gbemi asked. I responded, “Hold on, baby” as I gently went on  my kneels asking her to marry me. She screamed out loud as I slipped the ring into the middle finger of her left hand. My already hiding friends and their friends trooped out to congratulate us and that was how my birthday party turned to an engagement party. It’s some three years now, and the sweetness of the sound of her “Yes” still echoes in my head.
